ORIGIN OF MATHEMATICS
Mathematics has been born since the ancient
Egyptians and Babylonians. Systematization of mathematics into a science, just
happened in the days of ancient Greece. Since then mathematicians began to grow
wider, the interaction of mathematics with other fields such as science and technology
is increasingly visible. Now, math has become an important tool in many ways.
Almost every field of science and mathematics using technology. Mathematics is one of the most
useful human knowledge in life. Almost every part of our lives that contain
math kids need proper experience to be able to appreciate the fact that
mathematics is important for their future. It is therefore a good model of
mathematics learning should be the one to form the logic of thinking is not
just good at arithmetic. Because counting can be done with tools such as
calculators, computers, but in solving the problems need logic and analytical
thinking.
B. HOW
TO TEACH MATHEMATICS
Formal mathematics instruction generally begins in
school. Meanwhile, mathematics in schools is still a daunting lesson for the
students. Among the various factors that trigger this thing is a learning
process that is less fun and interesting. Learning models that are often
encountered in mathematics learning is the learning process patterned "teacher
centered". So that teachers become the main character and presence to be
very decisive. Learning can not be done without the presence of a teacher.
Students tend to be passive and do not play a role during the learning process.
So the process that appears is "take and give ". In stringing
learning , teachers are generally familiar with the standard model, namely learning
stems from the formula, memorize it,and then applied in the example problems. Mathematics
learning model should begin by lifting situations of daily life which later
simplified in the form of word problems. Then the students are asked to model
with the model. Expected that with the implementation of a good mathematical
learning model, students become good at solving problems. Students can truly
master the math concepts well. In addition, students are expected proficient
in math and able to do the calculations correctly and appropriately. Example :
1. Encourage students to experiment, and
let them see what happens. Here there will be a process of bring creative ideas
that may be unexpected teacher. This is where a creative form. Students will
better enjoy their lessons.
2.
Let the students make a hypothesis or
conjecture on what they are doing.
3. Teachers with students to discuss the
activities undertaken. Provide opportunities for students to present their
observations.
4. One thing that is also important is the
appreciation process. If the hypothesis is taken by students was less precise
then the teacher should continue to appreciate. With that way, then the student
will remain motivated motivation.
5. Learning process such as this, if it
continues to evolve in various topics of mathematics learning, it is possible
to create learning math more fun and interesting, as well as bad and scary
scrape imaging attached to it.

GOAL OF LEARNING MATHEMATICS
Short-term
goal of learning mathematics is students can understand the material studied
mathematics and can use them in other subjects or in life real and provision
for further education. While the long-term goal of learning mathematics is the students can take a " mathematical
values " and apply it to life. Mathematical values may include :
reasoning, discipline, honesty and solidarity.
